WHAT IS PARENTS AS TEACHERS?

The Parents as Teachers program has a rich history of supporting families worldwide. Founded in 1981 in Missouri, by psychologist Mildred Winter, PAT has evolved over the years to become a leading evidence-based early childhood home visiting program offered FREE through the Lee's Summit R-7 School District to residing families with children aged prenatal to pre-kindergarten. The Parents as Teachers Program is a part of the Great Beginnings Early Education Center located at Legacy Park.

Our program offers four main components to families:

  • Home Visits with Certified Parent Educators
  • Annual Developmental Screenings for Children Aged 6 months to Pre-K
  • Group Connections
  • Resource Connections

TOGETHER, we provide families with a program of support so that all children will develop, learn and grow to realize their full potential.

Parent involvement is an integral part of our Early Childhood Programs. Parents are encouraged to enroll in the Parents as Teachers program today!
